Yesterday I read a passage from Joshua and here are some thoughts on that subject. The scripture that stood out to me was: (Achan speaking after being questioned by Joshua)
Joshua 7:21 When I saw among the spoiles a goodly Babylonish garment, and two hundred shekels of siluer, and a wedge of gold of fiftie shekels weight, then I coueted them, and tooke them, and behold, they are hid in the earth in the midst of my tent, and the siluer vnder it.
So what happened to this man called Achan who was tempted by a Babylonian accursed thing?
God explained to Joshua why he failed in his attempt to take out the people of Ai (not AI like in the Terminator)
Verse 11: Israel hath sinned, and they haue also transgressed my Couenant which I commaunded them: for they haue euen taken of the accursed thing, and haue also stollen, and dissembled also, and they haue put it euen amongst their owne stuffe.
By the way this is not a commentary on this chapter so please read all of the first five books of bible and then Joshua which gives great insight. I am by no means attempting this. However it is clear he coveted the treasure of a significant amount of gold and silver and hid it as he obviously knew he had done a very grievous act. What I saw was the garment and it being Babylonian.
Previously God commanded them to destroy everything in the city of Jericho:
17 ¶ And the citie shalbe accursed, euen it, and all that are therein, to the Lord: onely Rahab the harlot shal liue, she, and all that are with her in the house, because she hid the messengers that we sent.
18 And you, in any wise keepe your selues from the accursed thing, lest yee make your selues accursed, when yee take of the accursed thing, and make the campe of Israel a curse, and trouble it.
19 But all the siluer, and gold, and vessels of brasse and yron, are consecrated vnto the Lord: they shall come into the treasurie of the Lord.
21 And they vtterly destroyed all that was in the city, both man and woman, yong and old, and oxe, and sheepe, and asse, with the edge of the sword.
When I did a quick internet search I found plenty of information about this subject and “commentary” but I will not focus on that here but you can read it for yourself. Let’s take a look at what Mystery Babylon is taken from SOLOMON’S SORROW written by Reginald Jacob Block page 127. Please grab this book if you can.
“The religion of Babel where most of humanity worships is MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH.
It is a system recognized by halftruths, fabricated facts, myths, symbols, and false spiritual laws; it denies true history, pure lineages and God’s exclusive redemptive promise. It is driven by charismatic leaders, traditions, dogmas, philosophies, superstitions and counterfeit versions of true religion. Mystery Babylon is the universal spiritual edifice where dwells Lucifer and all people who reject the Spirit of true faith and God’s uncomplicated redemptive provision. From its elusive throne, the world is manipulated and its people kept in an illusory state, trapped in a kind of matrix where nothing is quite as it seems.”
Mystery Babylon is characterised by absorbing (originating) every single religion and philosophy and belief system outside God’s true word that we see when we read Joshua and the complete 1611 English translation of the bible.
Revelation 18:3 reads, “For all nations haue drunke of the wine of the wrath of her fornication, and the Kings of the earth haue committed fornication with her, & the Merchants of the earth are waxed rich thorow the abundance of her delicacies.”
So where is mystery Babylon? It is everywhere and no-where. It is the matrix and it’s the method of enslavement of all men from all creeds, cultures and places. Anyone who does not believe of the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and is accepted by God is by default in Mystery Babylon. All of society is based on its system. Laws, religions and philosophy are essentially Babylon. If you read the Old Testament in the 1611 translation you will see it over and over as Israel continually allowed it to infiltrate their society where by they participated in the so called heathen cultures.
We do not think of ourselves as heathen but it has been modernised using the latest technology but make no mistake it has not changed at all. In fact it has only become more subtill and baked in to the fabric of society using mass media, mobile phones and TV. We are as heathen as any of the ancient tribes eating our own children. I leave it there.
