WHAT DOES SCRIPTURE SAY ABOUT THE HOLY GHOST?

Is he God?

THE HOLY GHOST

He/Him, Not It

Also called the Comforter and the holy Ghost (John 14:26) “But the Comforter, which is the holy Ghost whom the Father wil send in my name, he shal teach you al things…”

Note: The pronoun “he” is used, not the pronoun “it.” This indicates that the Holy Spirit is not a thing, or merely an energetic inanimate force. Rather, the Holy Spirit has attributes of “person,” just like the Father and the Son.

Jesus said, “And I will pray the Father, and hee shall giue you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for euer…” (John 14:16) Again, note that Jesus uses the pronoun “he.”

And, John 15: 26 “But when the Comforter is come, whom I wil send vnto you from the Father, euen, the Spirit of trueth, which proceedeth from the Father, hee shall testifie of me.”

Here Jesus uses the pronoun “hee” of the Holy Spirit and he also indicates that the Father and he jointly send the Comforter.

John 16:7 Jesus uses the pronoun “him” of the Holy Spirit. “…but if I depart, I will send him vnto you.”
