Pride of heart

Pride

12 How art thou fallen from heauen, O Lucifer, sonne of the morning? how art thou cut downe to the ground, which didst weaken the nations?

13 For thou hast said in thine heart; I wil ascend into heauen, I wil exalt my throne aboue the starres of God: I wil sit also vpon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the North.

14 I wil ascend aboue the heights of the cloudes, I wil bee like the most High.

15 Yet thou shalt be brought downe to hel, to the sides of the pit.

Isaiah 14:12-15

Most people cannot comprehend their pride and do not see it as a problem to them. However it is the very thing that keeps people away from salvation.

For God doeth know, that in the day ye eate thereof, then your eyes shalbee opened: and yee shall bee as Gods, knowing good and euill.

So the very reason man fell was pride firstly instigated by Lucifer himself as Genesis 3 witnesses. This is why God warns us in James as he identifies the symptoms of pride.

From whence come warres and fightings among you? come they not hence, euen of your lusts, that warre in your members?

2 Ye lust, and haue not: yee kill, and desire to haue, and cannot obtaine: yee fight and warre, yet yee haue not, because ye aske not.

3 Ye aske and receiue not, because ye aske amisse, that yee may consume it vpon your lusts.

4 Ye adulterers, and adulteresses, know yee not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoeuer therefore will be a friend of the world, is the enemy of God.

5 Doe ye thinke that the Scripture saith in vaine, the spirit that dwelleth in vs lusteth to enuy?

6 But he giueth more grace, wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proude, but giueth grace vnto the humble.

7 Submit your selues therefore to God: resist the deuill, and hee will flee from you.

8 Draw nigh to God, and hee will draw nigh to you: cleanse your hands ye sinners, and purifie your hearts yee double minded.

9 Bee afflicted, and mourne, and weepe: let your laughter be turned to mourning, and your ioy to heauinesse.

10 Humble your selues in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you vp.

When you read this in the context of the whole of James it seems the sower of this discontent originates from pride from the God of this world.

Jesus speaks of the work of the enemy against believers in Matthew 13:21

Yet hath hee not root in himselfe, but dureth for a while: for when tribulation or persecution ariseth because of the word, by and by he is offended.

So why is he offended? Could it be pride? I suggest you read the whole chapter in its entirety. You see you cannot receive Gods word with a proud heart. That is just not going to happen. Some may think that people with letters after their name and various titles know Gods Word but they just know words on a page. God will never reveal anything to them unless they humble themselves before him. There is no other way. We see this in Philippians 2.

5 Let this minde bee in you, which was also in Christ Iesus:

6 Who being in the forme of God, thought it not robbery to bee equall with God:

7 But made himselfe of no reputation, and tooke vpon him the forme of a seruant, and was made in the likenesse of men.

8 And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himselfe, and became obedient vnto death, euen the death of the Crosse.

People look toward their pastor, mega church leader or scholars to speak the truth to them but Jesus said

Iesus saith vnto him, I am the Way, the Trueth, and the Life: no man commeth vnto the Father but by mee

So you are not going to get anything if you just go through them. You have to come to Jesus himself. He is our high priest. You notice the upper case? There is a reason for that you will not see in Babylonian bibles because the pride of Lucifer has gathered up the waters of Jordan and spewed out the word of God and violated it making it his own.

Behold, he drinketh vp a riuer, and hasteth not: he trusteth that he can draw vp Iordan into his mouth.

Job 40:23

There is only on Way, Trueth and Life. You cannot in your pride find another way. People try their whole lives but fail. They always will until they humble themselves and put away pride.

There are all kinds of pride we use. In western society our job titles, possessions and income form part of our pride. If anyone had wealth beyond imagining that could shame the greatest King today it was Solomon. Yes even Solomon in his splendour was no match for creation.

Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin: 29And yet I say unto you, That even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. 30Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field, which to day is, and to morrow is cast into the oven, shall he not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith? 31Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed? 32(For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things.

You might then be lead to the pride of Solomon the man considered the wisest person to have ever lived through out the ages. Did he not fall in to witchcraft? Why? Because of his pride. You might think I am not he so how can you compare Solomon to me. Think again. So many people have a belief that they are right and everyone else including God is wrong. They say in their heart that they have not murdered, stole and sinned like everyone else that is corrupt. Yet Jesus said he was the Way Trueth and the Life. You cannot come to the Father except through him the living and enduring Word of God.

In John Chapter one we read

1In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

2The same was in the beginning with God.

3All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.

And again he says in 1 john

That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, of the Word of life;

Yet I remind you again of Philippians chapter 2 that we just read. Here is something you need to read to cap all of this off.

28Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. 29Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. 30For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.

Matthew 11:30

We think that we have to be like Gods, rule our own life and carry our own burdens but Jesus gives us all his strength and his Life. But we must humble ourselves. We must put away the pride in our hearts in order to receive from him. We must believe on the name of the Lord Jesus Christ to be saved. Let’s take a look at the books of Acts. What did Peter say?

Then Peter said vnto them, Repent, and be baptized euery one of you in the Name of Iesus Christ, for the remission of sinnes, and ye shal receiue the gift of the holy Ghost.

Acts 2:38

So salvation is on the basis of believing on the name of the Lord Jesus Christ alone not by any action of our own making. I heard recently from someone that baptism and speaking in tongues are salvation. This is simply not true as you can see from the specific placement of commas in the 1611 translation used above (Not the KJV which does the opposite) If we must do something to be saved then this is Babylonian pride of heart where what we do affects the outcome of salvation. Mystery Babylonian religions always (without exception) teach that we must change something, do something, know something or say specific words in order to be saved. I noticed this in salvation prayers where we are lead in specific words and phrases like “Jesus come in to my heart.” I have not seen a single scripture that says this. We must go back to the original word of God.

Anything else is pride. To think that we ourselves could bring anything to God is – you guessed it pride. We are not clothed in any action we take or our own good works no matter how incredible they are. I am not degenerating good works. I am simply stating what the scripture says. The only only action is humbling our selves and believing on the name of Jesus Christ to be saved. If we take a look at Revelation we see that we are clothed in he raiment of Jesus works not our own.

Hee that ouercommeth, the same shalbe clothed in white raiment, and I will not blot out his name out of the booke of life, but I will confesse his name before my Father, and before his Angels.

Revelation 3:5

Jesus also make it clear that many will come to him based on their works but he will reply I never knew you. I quote this below but read all the chapter.

¶ Not euery one that saith vnto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdome of heauen: but he that doth the will of my father which is in heauen.

Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, haue we not prophecied in thy name? and in thy name haue cast out deuils? and in thy name done many wonderfull works?

Matthew 7:21-23

These are just a few thoughts I had on this subject which apply to me. I am sure you have no such issues.
