HISTORY, SCHOLARS & PUBLISHERS
Generally speaking, there are two Bible lineages and one offshoot. The two main categories are Antiochian and Alexandrian; the third is a later corrupt by-product of the Antiochian lineage. The Old Testament Masoretic Text falls under the Antiochian lineage and the Septuagint, the Greek Old Testament, under the Alexandrian.
The Antiochian line culminates in the 1611 AKJB, and that lineage ends there. All Bibles after that purporting to be King James Bibles of any sort are imposters; they are corruptions of the 1611 AKJB. Yet, it cannot be said that they are either Antiochian or Alexandrian in the strictest sense, rather they at times favor one or the other. Still, they are the least leavened among modern Bibles, represented primarily by the KJV.
Following is a simplified chart showing the two manuscript lines and the imposter offshoot of the 1611 AKJB.
The Antiochian line of Bibles and manuscripts, or gospels and epistles, were well circulated among first century churches and eventually copied into other languages; such are the Syrian Peshitta, the Old Latin Syriac and various scriptures used by Donatists, Waldenses, Gauls and Celts.
Scholars who favored Gnostic philosophies of God and Jesus produced the Alexandrian manuscripts. From there also come the works of certain church fathers whose teachings, to a degree inform and define aspects of Roman Catholic doctrine. Alexandrian texts are the basis of Vaticanus and Sinaiticus, the two codices that are the foundation for Roman Catholic Bibles and all modern Protestant Bibles.
Conversely, the Antiochian manuscripts are philosophically and often doctrinally in opposition to those of Alexandria. They were used by groups not under the headship of the Pope of Rome; for that reason they were persecuted by Rome. It is from the Antiochian lineage that we get the Reformation Bibles, and of greatest import, the 1611 AKJB, where that lineage comes to an abrupt halt. There are no Bibles of the pure Antiochian lineage after the 1611 AKJB, only imposters. These imposters impersonate the 1611 AKJB; they are corrupt Bibles. They are certain Cambridge and Oxford Bibles published after the 1611 AKJB came off the press; included would be Dr. Paris’s revision, and Blayney’s 1769 KJV that claim to be mere grammatical corrections of the 1611 AKJB. Today, among them is the New King James Version (NKJV).
Believers in the Antiochian lineage have been persecuted and murdered by Rome, as were those who dared translate Bibles from that family of manuscripts. This reached its apex during the Protestant Reformation when the 1611 AKJB began to break the yoke of Rome and threatened to take it down. Based on the founding of the Society of Jesus in 1540 and later the Council of Trent 1545-63, the Vatican in the 1600s resolved to destroy the 1611 AKJB and replace it with corrupt versions.
This should not be surprising, as the New Testament warns believers to expect persecution because of the word of God.
“Yet hath hee not root in himselfe, but dureth for a while: for when tribulation or persecution ariseth because of the word, by and by he is offended.”
“And haue no roote in themselues, and so endure but for a time: afterward when affliction or persecution ariseth for the words sake, immediately they are offended.”
Just as Jesus prophesied, persecution came immediately upon the first century church from both the Jews and the Romans. Both hated the word of God, and demanded that believers stop proclaiming it. Many refused, but held fast to the faith once delivered to the saints; for that they were crucified, thrown to the lions in the Coliseum and soaked in oil and burned on stakes as torches in Caesar’s garden. This stopped for a while, in most regions, when Constantine declared Christianity the official religion of the Roman Empire. However, that was short lived and persecution of those not submitting to Rome resumed; and became worse throughout the Dark Ages, when having an unlicensed Bible in your possession could result in execution. Then came the Confessors, who preceded the Reformers; they too were murdered by the Vatican for translating the Bible into common languages. But it didn’t end there, as dedicated men convicted by the Holy Ghost refused to be silenced; and soon the Reformers arose and produced a number of Bibles culminating in the 1611 AKJB, where the tradition of Bibles translated from the Antioch manuscripts ends.
Following is a chart outlining a general history of the two lines of Bible manuscripts. I have ended the chart at the Westcott-Hort Redaction of 1881, as that Bible, though claiming in its original introductory notes to be an updated version of the 1611 AKJB, is a completely new translation, firmly rooted in the Alexandrian Texts, and having little or nothing to do with the underlying texts of the 1611 AKJB. In fact, Hort, in a letter to Westcott referred to the Received Text as “villainous.” This Greek New Testament is the foundation for the Nestle-Aland Greek New Testament and the United Bible Society’s Greek New Testament, upon which all modern New Testaments are based.
Gnostics believed Jesus and Lucifer were of the same essence, and perhaps the same person; and the God who created the world was evil, and not the same God that they believed was the one true God over all.

Jesus warned of the persecution that would follow those who believed in the pure word of God, but both the Old and New Testaments prophesied that Satan would seek to corrupt it, and that he would raise up a false word of God that would deceive the whole world. In the 1611 AKJB; it is called a “burning lampe” and “Wormewood,” while the true word of God is called “a lampe unto my feete.”
Wormewood falls upon one third of the rivers and fountains of waters. This is symbolic of the gradual contamination of all waters, as rivers flow into lakes and seas and fountains of waters feed all the waters on earth. Thus, all but the true “lampe vnto my feete” would eventually become polluted. Jesus said that “(if it were possible,) they shall deceiue the very elect.”
And, Paul in 2 Thessalonians 2:11-12 wrote,
“11 And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should beleeue a lye.
12 That they all might bee damned who beleeued not the trueth, but had pleasure in vnrighteousnes.”
What is being deceived but believing things untrue?
In Matthew 24:11, Jesus said,
“And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceiue many.”
A false prophet is one with a false testimony of Jesus. He names the name of Jesus, but serves a false Jesus who is also the false word. These are the preachers, teachers and scholars who declare Alexandrian-based Bibles the most accurate and faithful of all.
Obadiah wrote of such men,
“The pride of thine heart hath deceiued thee: thou that dwellest in the clefts of the rocke, Whose habitation is high, that saith in his heart: Who shall bring me down to the ground?” 9

An google search for endorsements of various modern Bibles produces dozens of testimonies from important men of Christendom declaring corrupt Bibles “the most accurate and readable.” 9 Obadiah 1:3
