Today’s sermon lesson is going to be about God’s word being compared to a two edged sword. It says here for the Word of God is quick and powerful and sharper than any two edged sword. That will be the discussion today. Please turn in your Bibles or look at the screen, I’m going to read out of the book of Hebrews chapter four, verses 11 and 12
Let vs labour therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of vnbeleefe.
12For the word of God is quicke and powerfull, and sharper then any two edged sword, pearcing euen to the diuiding asunder of soule and spirit, and of the ioynts and marrowe, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
I remember when I was born again, God’s word ran through my head and broke me down completely, as a human being I was physically broken down, but also spiritually just decimated. Because the word of God came into me and revealed that you know, I was the last person without Jesus Christ. And God’s word, certainly, to me, is sharper than any two edged sword. It was very powerful, the experience was overwhelming. And it changed my life forever. Now, everybody has a unique experience. But mine was for a purpose that God was going to put me on a different track in life. So I’m looking forward to talking about God’s word as a two edged sword.
So the purpose of the lesson today is we need to understand spiritual vocabulary as Christians because God’s word is spiritually discerned. We need to understand that a sword represents the Word of God. So when we’re reading God’s Word, and the word sword appears, we’re also associating that with God’s word. However, the god of this world counterfeits the Most High God, and he also has a sword. And that’s important to understand, because we get many lessons about Lucifers counterfeiting of God here on Earth. And it’s important that we pay attention to every single word of God, so that we can be edified as to what is going on, and how we can, you know, fulfil the will of the Father as Christians.
And in doing so it’s important to share all of God’s Word with others to edify them. If we don’t share the testimony that we have or the Word of God, then it doesn’t really profit anything at all. So we want to share our testimonies, and then I’ll give a brief conclusion at the end of the discussion today. So I’m going to read Revelation chapter one, verse 16.
And hee had in his right hand seuen starres: and out of his mouth went a sharpe two edged sword: and his countenance was as the Sunne shineth in his strength.
We know that we are being taught about Jesus Christ, and out of his mouth goes a sharp two edged sword. And so it’s important that we know that there’s a number of places in scripture where God makes this very clear to associate the mouth with a sword, specifically a two edged sword. It says in Luke chapter two, yeah, a sword shall pierce through thy own die own soul also, that the thoughts of many hearts may be revealed. As I said earlier, that’s what happened to me when I was born again, you know, God’s Word came into me, and broke me down. And I realised for the first time in my life, just how lost I was an evil, apart from having, you know, any righteousness that I would ever get was from Jesus Christ, by grace through faith, and nothing that I could do in my flesh. And it was a very powerful experience. So these passages of Scripture mean a lot to me. And I’m sure they mean a lot to everyone who has been born again of the Spirit.
In Hebrews chapter four, as I read earlier, for the Word of God is quick and powerful and sharper than any two edged sword piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. I put this up on the screen again because I want to focus on the on what a sword does it pierces and it gets down into your soul. So when you’re reading about God’s word he’s piercing you is if you’re, you know, it should hurt, you should feel remorse regret, you should cry, if you’ve been born again, you should have wept. It, it should have been a very powerful experience.
But when the Holy Ghost comes into you and comfort you, and reproves the world of sin, and shows you that you’re saved by grace through faith, not of yourselves, not anything that we’ve done in the flesh, it’s a very comforting experience, but God chastens and scourges everyone first. And he takes you out of your comfort zone, before he comfort you. And that’s a good thing. It’s for our own good. Lucifer as we know in the book of Isaiah. The reason one of the reasons he got kicked out of heaven is he wanted to be like the most high says, I will be like the Most High.
So knowing that we’ve got a counterfeit of everything that the Most High does for us. Lucifer is trying to counterfeit him continually. You know, God gives us eternal life. Lucifer wants to give the last of the world eternal life and God chooses delusions and allows them to send this delusion. Think about cloning and all this stuff. I mean, Lucifer, the dragon has been given all power signs in line wonders, and, you know, he’s a, a magician, and, you know, if people judge by appearance and what they see and lean on academia, and lean on their own understanding, and trust in Pharaoh, in other words, trust in the God of this world, they’re going to be lost forever. Once you get born again of the Spirit, you know that all this is just a giant smokescreen, that it is a delusion. And we’re not going to step into this snare because we have the Lord Jesus Christ to protect us. What else does a sword do? It pierces as I mentioned, this is what sorts do they pierce
It says in Job chapter 40, verse 24,
He taketh it with his eyes: his nose pearceth through snares.
Okay, while the natural person or the slumbering person that could be saved may be reading about a hippopotamus, a dinosaur, an elephant. The saints of the Most High at a spiritual level, are learning about how the devil has a sword, and he pierces through snares, people’s hearts are taken in a snare. And his job the devil’s job is to tickle people’s ears and tell them what they want to hear. And if they want to learn about Jesus, he’s the chief of the ways of God, he’ll tell them all they want to know about Jesus and tickle their ears and make them feel wonderful and loving their life to the very end. But unless you’ve wept, and been scourged, and chastened and received by God, you may have received Jesus in terms of what you think, but God has to receive you, God the Father gives permission. So when you’ve been born again, Spiritual things are taught and this is what we’re learning about Job chapter 40, because the next chapter talks about how the Antichrist manipulates people using the wisdom of Lucifer.
It says in Isaiah chapter 27.
In that day the Lord with his sore and great and strong sworde shall punish Leuiathan the piercing serpent, euen Leuiathan that crooked serpent, and hee shall slay the dragon that is in the Sea.
Leviathan is the Antichrist Lucifer wants to be like the Most High, but he can’t be omnipresent like God. Jesus Christ says that he and the Father are one. And Lucifer cannot ultimately counterfeit that he tries, but he is a creation, He is not the creator. So he’s we are we are taught that certainly, the Antichrist has the wisdom of Lucifer, and there could be a spiritual possession going on here in a physical vessel, but they are separated by God, behemoth and Leviathan are but the Antichrist tickles the ears. He’s the one that disseminates the propaganda from the king of Babylon, and decrees many false scriptures as we learn about Job chapter 41 Verse 19, and the whole world lies and deception because they lacked the knowledge of the truth. Sometimes people don’t want the truth. They don’t want to accept it because it’s just too unpalatable or too horrifying to think about and only few gets saved. Cut off. Yes, this is what swords also do. They cut off.
It says in First Samuel 17.
50So Dauid preuailed ouer the Philistine with a sling and with a stone, and smote the Philistine, and slew him, but there was no sword in the hande of Dauid.
51Therefore Dauid ran and stood vpon the Philistine, and tooke his sword, and drewe it out of the sheath thereof, and slew him, and cut off his head therewith. And when the Philistines sawe their champion was dead, they fled.
We know from our spiritual vocabulary that a sling stone represents a word. You can see Proverbs chapter 26, verse eight, and I believe from memory that says,
As hee that bindeth a stone in a sling; so is hee that giueth honour to a foole.
I’m paraphrasing a bit, but in other words, it has a purpose. It’s not to be bound, but it’s to be laid in there so it can be used, not stick in a sling. Okay? The Word of God is meant to Pierce and break people down. But if you don’t want to believe God’s word, then his servant the king of Babylon will tickle people’s ears. Jeremiah 51, I invite everyone to read verses 60 through 64 that goes into greater detail about the sling stone and the falling of Babylon.
So Ieremiah wrote in a booke all the euill that should come vpon Babylon: euen all these wordes that are written against Babylon.
61And Ieremiah said to Seraiah, When thou commest to Babylon, and shalt see, and shalt read all these words,
62Then shalt thou say, O Lord, thou hast spoken against this place, to cut it off, that none shall remaine in it, neither man nor beast, but that it shalbe desolate for euer.
63And it shall bee when thou hast made an end of reading this booke, that thou shalt binde a stone to it, and cast it into the midst of Euphrates.
64And thou shalt say, Thus shall Babylon sinke, and shall not rise from the euill that I will bring vpon her: and they shall be wearie. Thus farre are the words of Ieremiah.
So we it ties directly into First Samuel chapter 17, where David slays, the Philistine with the sword of the Philistine, ultimately, that’s how people die in their iniquity. They feed on a corrupt scripture, and that’s what the Philistines sword ultimately represents spiritually. The corrupt word see Isaiah chapter 27, verse one, Ezekiel 21, verse 11, and Psalm 37, verse 14, for reference there, please study on your own.
In that day the Lord with his sore and great and strong sworde shall punish Leuiathan the piercing serpent, euen Leuiathan that crooked serpent, and hee shall slay the dragon that is in the Sea.
And he hath giuen it to be fourbished, that it may be handled: this sword is sharpened, and it is fourbished to giue it into the hand of the slayer.
The wicked haue drawen out the sword, and haue bent their bow to cast downe the poore and needy, and to slay such as be of vpright conuersation.
That’s why I do the sermon lessons. I want people to be able to pause the video and go and study and be edified by the Holy Spirit. I don’t want people just to listen to me. I’m just doing what I’m convicted to do, because of the Holy Spirit in me, says in Zechariah chapter five, verse three, and I’ve talked about this before.
3Then said hee vnto mee; This is the curse, that goeth forth ouer the face of the whole earth: for euery one that stealeth shall be cut off as on this side, according to it; and euery one that sweareth shall be cut off as on that side, according to it.
You know, unless you’re going to fall into condemnation, you’ll be damned. So it’s our mouth that gets us in trouble. And people, the last people of the earth are going to confess Lucifer as God because what makes a person marked or damned for eternity is their inability to confess that Jesus Christ is the Lord. And you can only do that by the power of the Holy Ghost. You can’t do that as a natural person. You can use Jesus as a word all day the devil does the same, but you cannot confess Jesus Christ is the Lord except by the Holy Spirit. And it says that in the New Testament, so we’ve got the Babylonian curse, which is a two edged sword and Zechariah chapter five.
But it’s also explained throughout the rest of Scripture in a number of places, notably in Proverbs chapter five, verse four, but her end meaning Babylon, the woman, who reigns over the kings of the earth, in other words, ultimately the last people the earth, her end is as bitter as Wormwood, sharp as a two edged sword. So we get an association of Wormwood, the counterfeit scripture that the devil has that God places in his hand, is sharp as a two edged sword. He’s counterfeiting Jesus Christ, using his Antichrist Leviathan, which, again, I’m just going to say the scholars are trying to figure out what type of crocodile or dinosaur or monster of chaos this Leviathan is, they are confounded. And if you follow men, your end will be bitter as well follow Jesus Christ, follow him, believe on Him, and edify one another if you’re born again of the Spirit. It says in Revelation chapter one, again, and he had in his right hand seven stars and out of his mouth went a sharp two edged sword. And then as I read earlier, as well, in Hebrews chapter four, for the Word of God is quick and powerful and sharper than any two edged sword.
So I’ve laid it out here again, I know I’m being repetitive, but I want to put emphasis on basic concepts. You’ve got a two edged sword, one that’s God’s, and one that God puts in the hand of the king of Babylon, the devil, that is a counterfeit, and he allows the devil to deceive the whole world. And he is the Slayer the devil is the slayer. Yea, hath God said, and were the slain are there? Is he referring to the Viper from Job chapter 20. And what I just quoted was Job chapter 39. I think it was verse 30. But it all fits together like a perfect testimony should every word matters greatly to God, you change one little word leavens the whole lump, which is why I believe we don’t have great discernment in the true Christian church today. Because counterfeits had been sown in the Word of God deceitfully and with great subtlety, and we have to prove our armour. So, as I mentioned, God out of his mouth when a sharp, two edged sword, Lucifer, his sword is Wormwood sharp as a two edged sword.
I can’t emphasise that enough. That’s pretty simple. So in conclusion, the good news is if you’re born again of the Spirit, it says in Job chapter five, but he saved with the poor from the sword, from their mouth, and from the hand of the Mighty. As you get more and more on off of milk, and on to solid food of God’s word, you’re going to see there’s a repeating theme, where the mouth is what defiles us. And ultimately, Jesus tells us by our words, we’re going to be condemned. He says that to us. And when you’re saved, you realise how foolish all these corrupt scriptures are in the world. And they don’t know anything. They don’t say anything. They have miles, they don’t speak, ears, they don’t hear legs, but they can’t walk. God’s just telling us you can’t please God, without faith, in his incorruptible seed, the Word of God which liveth and abideth forever, the Lord Jesus Christ. So the poor are those that are blessed, and have a contrite spirit.
In other words, if you’ve been saved, He saves people from the corruption of the devil, Yea, hath God said, All for just believing God. That’s why Abraham was justified, he believed God. And it’s simple. But it’s so difficult to believe God in this world we live in with all of the so called experts and scholars, and continuous flow of more and more counterfeit scriptures in the markets. All you have to do is pray and trust in Jesus Christ, and sincerely seek him out. And he will, with God, the father’s permission, lead you to all truth when he sends you the Holy Spirit. I’m going to give a similar topic next week, I’m thinking about talking about the ascension of Jesus Christ again, but in a different way than I did before. I think a lot of people who celebrated Easter or would they call Resurrection Sunday, it will be about 40 days after that. So I want to do something to put a little bit of emphasis on the physical ascension of Jesus Christ, and how that’s under attack. So I’ll be discussing that in the upcoming sermon lesson, and I look forward to talking soon God bless everyone.
